This work is formed of four sculptures inspired by recovered

and found objects. Fusing 2d and 3d planes, they offer an extended notion of painting.

These assemblages of building materials, swatches of carpet and wallpaper, and familiar domestic features such as fireplaces, challenge the concept of home while opposing the concept of house. The work explores the concepts of self-identity. It reflects how attachment and belonging are rooted to physical place as well as to a culture or a community.

Home understood as a shelter provides a sense of both physical and psychic safety. We must internalize home as a nourishing whole to believe we can make our way in the world. Home is both a place we can always come back to and that we never truly leave.
